What do you think will happen if the former Soviet Union was not divided but instead made its way to Europe? You can find the answer to this question as you play World in Conflict: Soviet Assault.
- Dec 25, 2014 I've recently purchased World in Conflict: Soviet Assault from Gamestop, and I have an activation key to download and install it here. Well, that's fine and all, but when I try to install it, after downloading it, I can't. It requests a 'CD-KEY' and I don't have one. It never supplied me with one. Thanks for reading.

In this game, you take the role of a commander in the middle of an epical war. You control the most advanced military technology used at that time.
World in Conflict: Soviet Assault allows you to lead any troop from NATO, the USA or the Soviet Union. To defeat your opponents, you need to know the strengths and weaknesses of your units. They are also equipped with special abilities which you can use in accomplishing the 20 missions.
You have the option to play in the solo scenario or engage in multiplayer combats. Up to 15 players can fight against you on LAN or over the internet.
Experience the cold war between nations in World in Conflict: Soviet Assault. Take this game for a spin and see what it can actually do for you.
After having followed the Setup Instructions, you should be able to access our multiplayer services. The next
steps are optional but we highly recommend you to go through them as well. Doing so will improve your
overall game experience.
Additional Maps
There are some user-made, yet official, maps available. They are required to play on most servers. If the
server switches to a map you don't have, you will get disconnected from the server. Download these
additional maps and extract the files. Place the .sdf-files under
'C:Users*username*DocumentsWorld in ConflictDownloadedmaps'. Create this folder if it does not exist.
Integrity of do_Canal
Some players have reported issues playing the map 'do_Canal'. It seems it gets bugged occasionally. If your
game crashes when loading the map, download this file. Copy it into your World in Conflict root folder and
overwrite the existing file.
Adjust your game settings
While World in Conflict is still quite beautiful for its age, multiplayer is not about the graphics but about the
/windows-server-2012-key-generator.html. victory. It is therefore recommended to adjust some of your settings for better unit control.
In the multiplayer options, make sure you have the following configuration:
- 'Healthbars always on' (game options) - enabled
This will let you see all the unit icons at once and shows you which units are damaged and
therefore easier to destroy. - 'Mood changes' (game options) - disabled
On some maps (do_Quarry is the best example) you will notice a change in the light of the map. This
can be really distracting and should be disabled. - 'Camera maximum height' (controls options) - 300 m
This will allow you to raise your camera up into the skies. For even better camera handling, use
this cheeky little file here. Place it under 'C:Users*username*DocumentsWorld in Conflict' - 'Camera move speed' (controls options) - should be adjusted
With a higher camera, the movement will become slower. Hence you will most likely want to raise the
camera move speed. - 'Clouds' (advanced graphics options) - disabled
With increased camera height, the clouds get in the way. Disable them for free view.
Adjust your keyboard controls
Some of the keyboard controls can get in your way when playing, some others are used too often to require
two keys to be pressed at once.
Suggestion: Do not change the default camera movement keys (WASD). Despite being different from most
other RTS games, it is very useful this way and it just feels right after a while.
- 'Go To Drop Zone' (advanced controls options) - default: Space
Pressing this button will move your camera to your dropzone. While in theory a good control, this one
will also change your camera perspective to a horizontal view. Change it to something far away from
your WASD keys if you don't want this to happen. - 'Move Backwards' (advanced controls options) - default: Shift + N
Especially useful for playing the armor role, but also for air units and all kinds of ground vehicles that
would otherwise move into the wrong direction. Change it to a single button closer to your WASD keys. - 'Move' (advanced controls options) - default: N
Useful to run over infantry units. You might want to change it to something a bit closer to your
WASD keys. - 'Next / Previous Special Ability' (advanced controls options) - default: Shift + E, Shift + R
Useful to cycle through special abilities of grouped units. If you have a mouse with additional buttons,
change at least one of these controls to be accessible by your mouse. - Shortcuts for TA strikes (requires wicautoexec.txt)
If you downloaded the wicautoexec.txt file from above, you will see a lot of commands for the quick use
of TA strikes. These commands are basically macros that open your Tactical Aid Menu ingame and
select strikes from a certain category. You can create macros to buy units from the Reinforcement Menu
as well. Feel free to adjust the key bindings to your own preferences.
Place the wicautoexec.txt file under 'C:Users*username*DocumentsWorld in Conflict'
Recommended to have are:- Aerial Recon - just in case your scout chopper is suddenly dead ('Emergency Recon').
Especially useful for air and armor players. - Air To Air Strike - just in case your last AA just died.
Especially useful for playing the support role. - Airborne Infantry - provide you with additional vision over the map.
Especially useful for the infantry and armor roles. - Airdropped Jeeps - provide you with extra repairs.
Especially useful for playing the support role. - Airdropped Light Tanks - provide you with extra firepower.
Useful for armor players.
settings but fail. Essentially, you won't be able to use the key for either of the commands. - Aerial Recon - just in case your scout chopper is suddenly dead ('Emergency Recon').
Quick start up and Console
The following settings require you to create a shortcut to your wic.exe or edit the shortcut you have (it will
most likely be located on your desktop). Right click the shortcut and click properties. Under target, you should
find the full path to your wic.exe file in quotation marks, e.g.
'C:Program Files (x86)Sierra EntertainmentWorld in Conflictwic.exe'
You can add the following commands to the target, behind the quotation marks. The order of these commands does not matter.
- Quick start up
Add -nointro to the target. The advertising for the game studio, publisher, etc. as well as the intro movie
will not be displayed anymore when you start World in Conflict. - Console
Add -console to the target. The console allows you to adjust some graphics settings or game settings. It
is essential for server administration as it allows you to pause the game, freeze teams or to kick and
ban players - provided you have the admin password.
To access the console, press the tilde '~' key (english keyboard layout), the circumflex '^' key
(german keyboard layout) or whatever key is between your 'tab', 'esc' and '1' key if you should
have another keyboard layout.
Pressing the console key once will show a list of your last commands (or the commands in your
wicautoexec.txt if you have one), pressing it a second time will allow you to actually type commands
in there. Pressing it a third time closes the console and allows you to continue playing.
'C:Program Files (x86)Sierra EntertainmentWorld in Conflictwic.exe' -nointro -console
